The Network Box S-Scan engine is a high-speed web content filtering system designed to help organizations block undesirable web content from reaching their users. When combined with Google Safe Browsing (GSB), there are 16 categories of undesirable content – covering websites compromised by malware that might directly harm an organization’s computer systems, as well as websites that include subject matter that may be criminal in nature (hacking sites), cause offense (sexually explicit or hate sites), or otherwise harm users (spyware or fraud).

The 16 categories currently supported are:

  • adult / sexually explicit
  • criminal activity
  • gambling
  • hacking
  • illegal drugs
  • intolerance & hate
  • phishing & fraud
  • spam URLs
  • spyware
  • suspicious URLs
  • tasteless & offensive content
  • violence
  • virus / malware infected
  • weapons
  • GSB malware
  • GSB phishing

The Network Box S-Scan engine was a winner in the 2011 Computerworld Hong Kong Awards in the Content Filtering / Anti-Spyware category. Said Chee-Sing Chan, editor in chief of Computerworld Hong Kong: “Network Box reinforces its world-class status. With more than 40 international technology awards, clients around the world, including over 150 banks and credit unions in the U.S., Network Box has in the last 10 years risen to be a clear leader in the security space.

“On the issue of content filtering – for which Network Box won its award this year – the spate of security hacks has raised attention levels on how to protect data. Content filtering is a growing area as companies want to secure the flow of data in and out from the organization.”
